Oriflame's Eye-Lash Curler

Hello gorgeous readers. How have you all been? Hope you all are doing great!
My review today is about an eyelash curler. Who doesn't want pretty, long lashes, eh? Everybody does right? I will be reviewing Oriflame's Eye-Lash Curler today.

What does Oriflame say about this Curler?

Answer: Get dazzling lashes in only a few seconds with this easy-to-use lash curler that doesn't crease lashes. Use it before applying mascara for longer and prettier lashes. Made of nickel-free alloy. With burgundy rubber handles. 11x4cm.

Review:

1. This curler comes in an Oriflame plastic wrapper.

2. It is made up of nickel-free-alloy. And I love this the most about this tool. For all the readers who do not know what is nickel and how is it harmful to human skin: nickel is basically a greyish metal. And when you are in a repeated contact with this metal on your skin it can lead to a skin disease known as Allergic Contact Dermatitis. So make sure you use tools which are nickel free always!

3. It has burgundy coloured rubber handles. And burgundy coloured lash pad.

4. The rubber handles of this curler make it easy to use.
 5. It has a small Oriflame logo, engraved on top of the eye lash curler.

6. This is my first ever lash curler. I bought it like six months back. But never really used it because I had no clue about how to use lash curlers back then.

7. How to use it:
  • Makes sure your lashes are dry and clean. Do not attempt on curling wet lashes.
  • Slightly heat your curler with a hair dryer. Make sure not to over heat it. Also be very very careful with using a heated curler since human eye is a very vulnerable organ. So be extra cautious while using the heated curler on your eye.
  • Open the curler, place all your upper eye lashes inside it. Make sure all the lashes are inside the curler including the smaller ones which are more on the inner side of the eye.
  • Then carefully close the curler. If you feel the that the skin of your lid is pinching that means you are doing it wrong. So make sure you just pull in the lashes and not the skin of your eye lids in the curler.
  • Hold the curler in a way that it is parallel to your eye lashes.
  • Hold the closed curler for ten seconds. Make sure you do not move your hand or face during these ten seconds. Keep them steady.
  • Open the curler then. Re-do the procedure if you want some more volume.
  • At the end, apply your mascara for an amazing effect.
  • And you are done!
Results:
This lash curler does its job pretty well. But if I do not pre heat it and use it otherwise it does not make my lashes as long as it would have done if it was pre heated. When I pre heat it and use the curler I find more length in my lashes. But this is disappointing because mostly I have no time at all to pre heat the curler and then use it.
Over all I think it is a more-than-average eye lash curler. If you are some one who has never used an eye lash curler before, you can start off with this Oriflame eye lash curler.

Pricing and Availability:
I bought this Curler from an Oriflame consultant. This curler is on sale in the current catalogue of oriflame which is valid till December 31st, 2013. And the sale price is 339Pkr. Actual price is 400Pkr.

Points in Favour:

  1. Made up of nickel free alloy.
  2. Has rubber handles, which are easy to use.
  3. Reasonably priced.
Points not in favour:
  1. If not pre heated, it does not lengthen the lashes amazingly.
  2. Can only be bought from an Oriflame consultant. Not available at local drug stores.
Rating: I would rate this product 3/5.

The Body Shop- Facial Brush.

Another tool to be reviewed today is a skin care tool. The Body Shop Facial Brush.

What does the body shop say about this facial brush?

Answer:
This hygienic, compact brush lightly exfoliates and stimulates circulation improving skin tone and texture. For the best results use with the body shop facial washes and cleansers. Rinse and stand in protective cap after use.

Review:
 1. It is a small sized facial brush, comes with a protective cap/lid with which you cover the brush after using it. The brush contains medium sized, white bristles.

2. The small size of the brush makes it perfect for travelling.

3. In my view the small size facial brush is more controllable than the large facial brushes.

4. Since it is an exfoliating brush so it might be a little rough so I suggest to be careful while using it. Do not be really fast or hard with it on your skin especially if you are someone with a sensitive skin.

5. I have combination skin type, which means that my T zone produces excessive oil which can obstruct my pores and cause break outs. For which exfoliating my skin is necessary. And this brush in my view is an excellent exfoliator.

6. How to use it: pour a small amount of your facial wash or cleanser or scrub on the brush, now start moving it in circular motions on your face. Make sure you are gentle on your skin or else you might end up hurting your skin since the bristles are kind of rough.

7. If you are some one with an acne prone skin I suggest you use this brush not more than once a week and be VERY VERY gentle with it. I wouldn't say that it is not for acne prone skin because they need exfoliation of their skin too. They just have to be a little more careful with this brush.

8. Use this brush to exfoliate your skin twice a week. Do not over exfoliate your skin or else you will end up with red bumps or redness on your face.

9. This brush can also be used to remove heavy makeup. Pour your makeup remover or a cleanser whatever you use on the brush and use it to remove makeup.

10. Keep in my mind to allow the brush to completely dry before putting the plastic cap back on, to prevent the growth of micro organisms, as we all know that moisture is a very good medium for micro organisms to grow.

11. I just started using this brush lately so I am not sure about when will I replace it with a new brush but if you use it twice a week it will go a long way for you like for around a good 6-7 months.

Pricing and Availability:
I bought this brush from The Body Shop outlet located at the Dolmen City Mall, Karachi. Worth 490pkr.

Rating: I would rate this brush 4/5.

The Body Shop Pencil Sharpener.

Makeup tools are equally important as makeup products. Without the right tools makeup application becomes difficult. Im sure most of you out there can totally relate to this, right? The tool I will be reviewing today is a Pencil Sharpener! Yes you heard me right. A tiny tool but very important. In-appropriate sharpeners lead to breaking off your concealer sticks, eye pencils, lip pencils and thus wastage of the product. So a good quality sharpener is essential!

I will be reviewing The Body Shop Pencil Sharpener.

Review:

1. It is a black coloured sharpener, comes with a plastic cover on the top. It has the body shop logo on one side.

2. It has only one hole and that to for small pencils like your lip pencils, eye pencils, brow definer pencils etc.

3. The sharpener blade is really sharp.

4. This sharpener makes my pencils sharpen really well without breaking off their tips or sides which was a major issue faced by me in the past when using other low brand sharpeners. I know 450 bucks might sound a lot for a sharpener but trust me its worth the money. Instead of getting cheaper alternatives and ending up with broken-tips of the pencils it is better to buy this little gem!

5. Since it comes with a plastic cover on the top, it catches all the pencil shavings so that one can use it without creating any mess.

6. Later on you can easily remove the plastic cover and throw away all the shavings and then replace the cover.

7. The packaging is completely travel friendly.

8. The only draw back in this product according to me is that it doesn't have another hole for sharpening bigger pencils like the jumbo eye pencils. Else this product would have been a hundred on hundred for me!

Picture showing a small hole for sharpening small pencils.

Pricing and Availability:
I bought this sharpener from The Body Shop outlet located at the Dolmen City Mall, Karachi. Can be purchased from any body shop outlet across the nation. Worth 450pkr.

Rating: I would rate this product 4.5/5.

The Body Shop- White Musk Libertine Shower and Moisture Set.

Body shopping is always fun, no? I am going to be reviewing The Body Shops White Musk Libertine cube set.
This set consists of:
  1. White mush libertine body wash 60ml
  2. White musk libertine body lotion, 60ml
  3. Bath lily/ Shower puff.
What does The Body Shop say about this Set?
Answer: Fragranced with White Musk Libertine, a blend of three musks combined with floral accords and a hint of Turkish delight. With cruelty free musk.

REVIEW:
This set comes in a pink coloured cube set. The packaging is really cute!
This body shop range has a typical fragrance like other Body Shop products. It has a floral-fragrance.

  • Body Wash:
It comes in a 60-ml bottle. I use the shower gel every other day. The product is not really runny in consistency which is a good thing. This way you wont end up with a huge amount of product at one go. I smell really amazing after the shower. And the fragrance stays there for around an hour. My skin feels smooth and really good. I like the bottle packaging. Once you're finished with the product you can re-use the bottle with some other thing. So in my view the bottle is re-usable. The quantity is enough to be lasted for a good two months if you use it everyday. And longer than that if you use it alternatively as very small amount is needed. Pour a small amount of gel on the shower puff and it makes a good amount of lather, which is enough to be used for the entire body.

  • Body Lotion:
This lotion comes in a 60-ml bottle too. The body lotion, unlike the shower gel is white in colour. Not very runny in consistency. I love the musk smell. One feels totally refreshed! I use this body lotion after taking a shower. The lotion is not a very good moisturiser though, but it helps with the skin smelling really good. I carry the lotion in my make-up pouch all the time with me so whenever I need a boost of good fragrance or whenever I feel my hands are drying up I can use this lotion instantly. Again the lotion will last you for a good 3 to 4 months as small quantity is needed each time.

  • Bath Lily/ Shower Puff:
Bath Lily/Shower Puff is a gorgeous, baby pink puff. It is really soft. Does not feel harsh on the skin at all. It helps make a good lather of whatever shower gel I use. Thoroughly cleans my skin. And it lasts for a very long time, provided you keep it in a good condition. So you dont really have to change your puff frequently. My previous body Shop bath puff lasted me for a year or more. Thats because the quality of the bath puff is appreciable.

Pricing and Availability: Available at all the body shop outlets across Pakistan. The entire cube set is worth 1490pkr.

Points in Favour:
  • Packaging is good.
  • The packaging is travel-friendly.
  • Fragrance is amazing.
  • Shower puff is really soft on the skin.
  • Cruelty free musk
Points not in Favour:
  • A bit too over priced (but then again thats the case with every body shop product)
  • Body lotion is not a very good moisturiser.
Rating: I will rate this product 4/5.

Color Studio Invincible Compact Powder

I am going to be reviewing one of my favourite everyday products today and that is the Color Studio Professional Invincible Compact Powder.

What does Color Studio say about this product?
Answer: The Invincible All-Day Waterproof and Heat-Proof Powder Compact provides all day matte coverage even through excessive oil and shine. The humidity and heat resistant powder repels against water and sweat, the leading causes of foundation transfers and fading. The velvety smooth texture applies flawlessly on the skin for a matt finish complexion. The soft, light-weight powder is finely milted for a complete medium to full coverage, packaged with a specially designed puff for maximum powder application to reduce shine and oil without giving you a cakey effect.

REVIEW:
I have totally fallen for this product! Before moving on to the review I would tell you the basic things that I look for in a compact powder.
  • It should be near-to-exact-match for my skin tone
  • Should be transfer resistant
  • It should not make my face look yellow or pale
  • It should not make my face look cakey
  • It should be fragrance free
  • It should have a good staying power
  • It should be sweat proof
  • It should be able to control shine on my face for a good three to four hours
And to my surprise all these qualities are there in this one compact powder! This is my absolute favourite product. I cannot imagine being without this product anymore. So when its near to being finished I'll stock it up.

This powder comes in four shades: Transparent, Indian Pink, Beige and Silk Beige. Although it is not a very big range but the shades range from transparent to yellow undertones to pink undertones, so in my view most of you will definitely find a good match for yourself.

I bought this powder in shade Indian Pink. Although it has slight pink undertones but it is a near to a perfect match for my skin tone. I am NC 25 and this shade doesn't bring a fake white look nor does it make my skin look really tan. Another closest match for NC 25 skin can be this powder in shade transparent. Beige would be a good match for people with yellow undertones.

Packaging of the product:
The packaging is totally awesome! It comes in a black hard plastic flip-on-pan. The pan includes a mirror and a puff applicator. Now how many local drug store compact powders come with a built in mirror and a puff applicator? Not many right? So this compact powder is a winner for me in terms of the packaging! It is completetly travel friendly and you can easily carry it around with you in your makeup bag.

I use this compact powder everyday. The coverage is not really heavy its light to medium. My skin does not feel heavy or fancy after the application of this compact powder which means it lets my skin breathe and I love this quality about this powder.

I apply this product over my sunscreen and face primer and it stays all day long (I leave my house around 9 in the morning and am home by 3) which is really cool because it survives the scorching heat and humidity of Karachi. If applied without a face primer it stays for a good three to four hours. So basically I don't need frequent touch ups with this powder. You can either apply it alone for an every-day-look or can apply it over your foundation as a setting-powder.

Another thing I love about this product is that it doesn't transfer. Products which are not transfer resistant really turn me off and am always running away from them. But this product proves to be transfer resistant! It does not have any weird fragrance which again is good. Compact powders should be fragrance free. Even if they smell good they shouldn't really smell at all because they might end up causing facial irritation.

The powder keeps my face shine free for a good three to four hours but an exception to this is my T-zone which obviously couldn't be kept shine free for this long because I have a very oily T-zone but then again thats okay because I don't think any product can keep my T-zone shine free for long so I wouldn't whine about it, hehe. It is good for people who have combination skin as well as oily skin. Not sure if it will suit people with dry skin because it may higlight the dry areas on their face.

I use this powder with the puff applicator which came with this powder and with my Real Techniques buffing brush. Also sometimes I use it with my MUA F4 Powder brush when I  need a very light coverage. This powder has a buildable coverage.
All in all I completely love this compact powder and its my everyday love.

Pricing and availability:I bought this compact powder from Color Studio located at the Dolmen City Mall, Karachi. Worth 1250pkr.
Points in favour:
  • Transfer resistant
  • Sweat Proof
  • Does not change color or oxidize on the face
  • No weird Fragrance
  • Builad-able coverage
  • Easily blend-able
  • Good for oily and combination skin types
  • Good staying power (when applied over a face primer)
  • Does not appear cakey on the face
  • Lets skin breathe
  • Packaging

Points not in favour:
  • A bit too over priced
  • Narrow shade range
  • May highlight dry areas of the face.

Rate: I will rate this product 4/5.
