Oriflame Sun-Zone Sunscreen (UV protector Face & Exposed Areas).

Sunscreens are a must-have! This scorching heat literally kills our skin cells & causes so much damage. Never ever step out without your sunscreen on, no matter how late you're getting!
Note: This is a PR product. Send to us for use & review. But this in no way will alter our opinion about it. We will put forward our 100% honest reviews for our readers.

What does Oriflame say about this product?
Effective high protection for sun-sensitive skin. Formulated with softening and moisturising actives. Fast-absorbing texture. Water-resistant. 50 ml.

Review:

This sunscreen comes in a 50ml white coloured tube, with orange cap. It has Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 50, which is pretty good. Product claims to be dermatologically tested so I believe it's safe for people with sensitive skin too.

The consistency of the product is not entirely creamy I'd say as it tends to get runny at times, so it's between creamy and liquid. The first thing we notice about a product is it's smell, this sunscreen has a mild fragrance to it I'd say. It's not irritating though or bothersome & goes away in a matter of few minutes.

The product initially after application, does make my skin sticky. So I'd not completely agree with the it's claim that its non-sticky. BUT it does not make my face greasy! So that's a plus point. It later on gets absorbed gradually and settles without much stickiness. I have combination skin type with excessively oily T-zone, so after sometime I can clearly see a shinning nose & chin, but I'd put the blame for this on this awful weather conditions! But in my opinion this sunscreen is not the best option for people with oily skin types. They need something which is more mattifying & more quickly absorbed into the skin. One does not need to moisturise skin after applying this sunscreen since it acts as a pretty good moisturiser on its own.

The sunscreen does not cause un-neccessary pigmentation on my face. Sunscreens which bring a fake white cast are a major turn off for me. And am glad that this one doesn't fit in that category. Ideal sunscreens should have no pigmentation at all & this product full-fills this criteria.

This sunscreen claims to give protection against both UVA & UVB radiations. What exactly are UVA & UVB radiations? And why is protection against them so important?
Ultra Violet rays that are harmful to our skin our of two types i.e. UVA and UVB. And both are harmful to us. A broad-spectrum sunscreen is designed to protect our skin from both these types of UV-rays.
Overall I like this product & would recommend it to people with dry and combination skin types.

Price & Availability: The product can only be bought through Oriflame representatives/consultants. The product can also be purchased online, from Just4girls.pk. The catalogue price of this Sunscreen is 1499Pkr. Visit the Oriflame website here for further information.

Points in Favour:

  • Hygienic & travel friendly packaging.
  • Does not produce any pigmentation.
  • No strong smell.
  • Acts as a moisturiser. (good for people with dry skin)
  • Protects against UVA & UVB radiations.
  • Has SPF 50.
  • Does not make face greasy.
  • This sunscreen is not just for face but other exposed (hands, arms, neck, feet etc) areas too.

Points not in favour:

  • Initially makes skin somewhat sticky.
  • Not suitable for people with oily skin types (in my opinion)
  • Not available at local drug stores.
  • Price is a bit higher.

A visit to H-Salon.

ABOUT THE SALON:
H-Salon is a Karachi, Pakistan based salon. Situated in D.H.A phase 6, Khayaban-e-Muhafiz. The salon is basically home-based.

The studio is pretty spacious & not jam-packed or glutted as is the case with many home-based studios & salons.
I decided to give this salon a try after a friend recommended it to me. And I must say that my visit was pretty much satisfying and relaxing.

SERVICES:
I decided to get a hair protein treatment, manicure, pedicure & threading.

The staff there started off with my hair protein mask first. My hair were washed and then the mint mask was applied. This girl gave me an amazing head massage, although it did not last for even five minutes (which was a turn off) but it was relaxing.

Then my manicure & pedicure were done simultaneously by two girls. They did a great job with my hands & feet. I am actually loving my feet, they're very clean & shiny. Nails are properly trimmed & shaped and glossy! So thumbs-up for that. Manicure was done nicely too. The girls did not chat unnecessarily, so that was a plus point too.

Threading was done according to my terms. She did not mess up my brows (thank God for that!) and i am satisfied with the end results.
Now the hygiene, the robe I was given to wear had wax-stains over it. My first thought after looking at it was ew! But then I enquired and this girl told me that it's washed properly and its just some fruit wax marks which were very stubborn and did not go away. So yeah I ignored the stains. Other than this the place around was clean & tidy. Ambiance was totally relaxing with dim lights.

Over-all I enjoyed my day at H-Salon & I would totally recommend it to all of you who're in Karachi to go & pay visit to this salon. I'm sure you guys would love it. Services are really good & thorough that too at literally throw-away prices! Plus the salon has some really good deals going on too.

Maybelline Fit Me Blusher.

Blushers are the best part of my make-up stash! You can step out with no makeup BUT blusher & it just completes your look! That little flush on the cheeks is totally amazing. Be it a day-time look or an evening look. Flushed cheeks are a must have!

I will be reviewing Maybelline Fit Me blusher in Light Pink today.

What does Maybelline say about this product?
Flawless blush that lets the real you come through.
Natural fade-free color.
Now in new shades!

Why You'll Love It

  • Lightweight pigments blend easily and wear evenly
  • Provides a natural, fade-proof cheek color that leaves skin the way it was meant to be… fresh, breathing, and natural
  • Oil-free, non-comedogenic, dermatologist tested

For Best Results

For a soft, natural look, brush color onto cheekbone, sweeping upward.

Review:
Maybelline's Fit Me blusher comes in 12 natural shades! Woah, now that's pretty huge, no? This means that you have ample options to choose from! I bought this shade somewhere around 6 months back and at that time I clearly remember I just had the option to choose from two or may be three shades. Probably because only those were instock at that particular time.
The blusher comes in a black, hard plastic pan with a transparent lid. The packaging is totally chic! Transparent lids are a great deal when it comes to blushers especially, as they enable to see the colour thoroughly. This blusher like all other Maybelline fit me blushers come with a short handle blusher brush. Although I don't use it for applying the blush since it's very short and not dense and just not according to my taste.
I use this blusher with either my Bourjois Kabuki brush or Abbamart Beau-make Angled Toray Contour Brush! It's a powdered blush. Does not appear chalky on the face, which is a plus point. Also, what I have noticed is that there is not a major fall out of the blusher in the pan unlike some other known brands' blushers. So thumbs-up for that Maybelline!
Now the colour of the blusher. The name of the blusher is light pink but it does not appear as a light pink colour on my skin. And this is something I adore about this blusher! Light pinks don't suit most of the Asian skin tones, at least they don't suit me ( NC 25-30). But this colour appears more of a rose pink on me! It might not show up on very pale skin like for people who're NC15 or below.
I agree that this blusher doesn't show up with one stroke/attempt. And I have to use multiple strokes to get the desired colour. But then I don't think that's an issue. Longevity of the blusher I'd say is not very appreciable. It fades away in few hours, approx 2 hours, in this scorching heat of Karachi. But when I apply this blusher with my Elf Makeup Mist & Set Spray it tends to stay there on my face for an entire day! (Credit goes to my elf makeup setting mist).

I usually wear this blusher during the day, as it brings a natural, pink blush to my cheeks!
Price & Availability:
I bought it around 6 months back from Scentsation, Dolmen Mall Clifton, Karachi worth 650Pkr. $5.99. The price may be subjected to change now. The product can be purchased locally from the local drugstores across the nation. In Karachi, you may find the product at Ebco at The Forum, Naheed Store, Scentsation, Dolmen Mall Clifton, Agha's etc.
Points in Favour:
  • The colour appears as a very nice Rose pink on my skin.
  • Blusher doesn't appear chalky on my face.
  • No major fall out of the blusher in the pan.
  • Packaging of the product is very decent.
  • The blusher comes with a brush for the application.
  • Price of the blusher is reasonable. Thus pocket-friendly.
  • Easily available.
  • Huge variety of the shades to choose from.
  • No weird fragrance noticed.

Points not in favour:
  • Can make people with paler skin tones totally washed-out!
  • Staying power of the blusher alone is poor,
  • The packaging in my view is not travel friendly. Vulnerable to breakage.
  • The actual colour does not show up with a single or even double swipe. Have to use multiple strokes to build the actual colour.

Orglow Mask.

Hello readers! This review was long due! I'm sure most of you out there by now have heard of this product?
This Orglow mask comes in a white coloured, plastic container. The mask is brown in color & is in powder form. Usually masks do not have any strong fragrances but let me warn you, this one had this not-very-pleasant smell to it!

What Orglow says about this:

GET READY TO GLOW!!!!!!

100% Natural 100% Herbal: Instant Skin Brightening Mask:

RECOMMENDED FOR ALL SKIN TYPES: PARTICULARLY COMPLEXIONS WITH NOTICEABLE DULLNESS AND SIGNS OF FATIGUE

Miracle in a bottle:

• Brightens complexion
• Evens out skin tone
• Removes scar marks over time
• Soothes and revitalises
• Suitable for all Skin Types
• See results in one use

REVIEW:

I have exams coming up and the amount of stress that comes along, leaves my face looking dull and life-less! This is where Orglow face-mask comes in action! One word: Life saver! It's an amazing mask, brightens the skin tone instantly leaving skin feeling fresh, healthy and hydrated!

How to use this mask:

Mix one table spoon of fresh yogurt with a little less than one tablespoon of this Orglow powder. Mix it well. Apply it on the face and neck area. Leave it on for a good 20-25 mins and then rinse your face with water.
P.s: the mask says for the best results add glycerine to it, since I have combination skin type I did not use glycerine and trust me it's not needed either because the mask is VERY hydrating itself! To the extent that I did not feel the need to moisturise my face after taking off the mask. So if you're someone with oily skin I'd recommend to skip the glycerine part.

Price & Availability: I bought this mask around 4 months back worth 850Pkr. This mask can be bought online from Orglow's Facebook page here. The mask is not available at the local drug-stores.

PBBC Coffee Meet-Up!

Meet-up pictures published in High-Tide Magazine.

The first ever PBBC meet-up (Unofficial) was held at Espresso, Dolmen Mall Clifton. Karachi. This was my (Maryam) first ever meet-up as a beauty blogger. Met so many bloggers & non-bloggers too from the PBBC community.

Bloggers Fest, 2014.

Hey beautiful souls. Today I'm going to talk about Bloggers Fest, an event where all the PBBC approved bloggers gathered & spent quality time together. Excited, eh? Keep reading...

It all started with the invitation for the event that we got. The event was organised by Take II Client Management/PR and Media Consultants.
The event was organised at Scentsation, Dolmen City Mall Clifton. Karachi.
This was one astounding & a breathtaking experience for me & and Maryam.

As we reached the venue, we were given a very warm welcome by Ms Zarmina Khilji, who happens to be the Business Development Head at Scentsation. It was a brief chit chat session with her and the owner/head of the Scentsation Mr Mohsin Feroze. Shortly thereafter, we along with a few other bloggers were shown around the place/store. We had the opportunity to know about different perfume brands and to try them.

This was the first time ever, we were meeting a lot of our fellow bloggers. These events not only provide information about new launches and brands but also provides an excellent platform for bloggers to interact with each other.

Mr Mohsin Feroze along with Ms Zarmina Khilji gave us briefing about their store (Scentsation) locations throughout the country, new launches, future plans etc which was quite informative. He spoke of how Scentsation has been successful in bringing some really good international brands to Pakistan, just a door-step away from us including Guerlain (newly launched), Tom Ford, Clarins etc. He emphasised on authenticity & quality of the products as they believe in satisfying their customers with the BEST and genuine things. He further continued, that Scentsation will keep striving to bring in more Internationally available cosmetic & Fragrance brands to Pakistan. Mrs Tehmina Khalid was also present at the event.

This was then followed by photo sessions and a scrumptious, mouth-watering meal at Johnny Rockets, Dolmen City Mall, which was also hosted by Take II Client Management.

Not to forget, all the bloggers male & female both were given goody-bags as a token of love & appreciation. Goody bag included: LaCoste Hand-bag, Versace perfume sample, Guerlain Key-chains (they're very adorable), Swarovski Note-book, Jewellery (which includes a bracelet & Necklace), Moschino Body Lotion, shower-gel & perfume (Sample size) & a very pretty Escada mirror.

In a nut-shell, it was a marvellous & an incredible experience for us! ^_^
