The Body Shop Moisture Boost Socks

Hello pretty ladies! How have you all been? We're writing after a week today, lately have been occupied with so many things, but no matter what we have promised weekly reviews for our readers (unless announced otherwise). Since winters are here we are focusing more on reviewing skin care products for our readers which will definitely be a help to combat this dry, cold weather.

Today our review is on "The Body Shop Moisture Boost Socks."

According to The Body Shop:

Wake up to softer feet! Slather feet in moisturiser, then slip these on before you hit the hay. Made with Community Trade natural cotton from Mauritius.

Review:

These are cotton socks by Body Shop, to be worn with or without moisturiser, preferably with moisturiser to boost your moisturisers capability.
I have dry skin, plus winter’s just here and there was sale at body shop so I thought of grabbing them.

I use them mostly with spa wisdom honey and beeswax foot butter.
The butter itself is moisturising enough, but just to enhance the effect and to make maximum out of it and to avoid it coming off at night because of my feet rubbing with sheets and all I wear socks.
Personally I believe they really do lock in the moisture and my feet feel softer in the morning. But I think it’s more to do with the moisturiser used then with the socks, because the first day I used them I didn’t notice much difference. But with subsequent uses as the butter forms a film inside, its then the socks really start working.
Using them has also prolonged my pedicure time, I think I need much less pedicures now, they have elongated the time between pedicures for me. What more do you want then to wake up in the morning with perfect soft feet.

They are good for people with feet size around 6-7 or more, for smaller feet, they might be loose, the downside is them being available only in one size, but they fit me perfect so I am good with it. They fit me till ankle. They are stretchable so people with bigger feet can also wear them.

The quality is amazing, I have already got my socks washed quite a few times already and they have maintained their shape and size and are still soft as the first time when I used them. They are thin and soft, which I like because then they are not uncomfortable at night when it gets a little warmer and you won’t feel as if you are actually wearing something at night.
The only thing I didn’t like was the tag stitched inside, it gets so irritating at night, so I turned the socks with tag inside out and problem solved.

Price and Availability: I bought these from The Body Shop outlet located at Naheed Super Market. Original price 790Pkr. I got these during The Body Shop winter sale worth 592Pkr. (To find out what other things we grabbed at TBS Winter Sale check our blog post here).

Points in favour:

  • They are really soft and thin (good for night).
  • They really work, wake up to softer feet.
  • Moisturiser doesn’t stain sheets any more.
  • Washable.

Points not in favour:

  • They are a bit on pricey side, in sale it’s a good bargain.
  • Tag is inside which is irritating.

Rate: I would rate these 4.8/5

MAC Brave Red Lipstick.

Hello readers! We are celebrating MAC lipstick week on our blog, in which we are going to review a MAC lipstick everyday on our blog for the entire next week starting from today! Sounds great, no?

The first lipstick by MAC to be reviewed today is "Brave Red".

Before moving on with the review I would like to tell you that MAC lipsticks come in nine different finishes, which are as follows:

  1. Amplified
  2. Amplified Creme
  3. Cremesheen
  4. Frost
  5. Glaze
  6. Lustre
  7. Matte
  8. Retro Matte
  9. Satin.

Review:

Brave red is a cremesheen finish lipstick. First thing that would come to the minds of many would be what exactly does cremesheen lipstick mean? Cremesheens are the most popular MAC lipstick finish. They are glossy, opaque and long wearing. The colour pay off is always really strong and they stay put on the lips for really long time. They are quite a thick lipstick so you can easily apply too much and have the constant feeling like you need to wipe your mouth. They are incredibly creamy and flattering. Colour selection is really good. Cremesheen has a total of 25 different shades.

This lipstick comes in a black, hard plastic container with MAC printed on it in silver. This was my first ever MAC lipstick. Brave Red is a bright yellow red. Which means this red comes with  yellow under tones. This is in fact really good as it suits me perfectly. It is neither too orangish nor with blue under tones. Thus it suits my skin tone amazingly and this is what I like the most about this colour! For the reference I am NC 30.

Texture of this lipstick is really nice, my lips feel hydrated and moisturised the entire time I'm wearing it over my lips and so I do not need prior lip balm application. Since the finish of this lipstick is cremesheen it gives more of this dewy look when applied. One thing which turns me off is that this lipstick is not transfer resistant, which was expected to some degree!

Brave Red is a bold, gorgeous, striking, fancy colour and is the best for evening wear. I don't remember wearing this lip colour during the day time ever. Although if you want you can wear it during the day time by dabbing it to give a more natural look. I usually wear it with my Colour Studio lip artist lip liner in Ooh La La which basically prevents it from bleeding. And honestly I haven't noticed bleeding of the lip colour till now. Although the colour feathers away after sometime especially after taking meals. The longest this lipstick have stayed on my lips was for around six hours straight, with no re-application in this between!

Brave Red Swatched.

For a make-up look using this lipstick, check our blog post here and here.

Price and Availability: Can be bought from Naheed's Super Market, EBCO located at The Forum or Agha's Super Market. Worth 2700Pkr.

Points in favour:

  • Travel friendly packaging
  • Huge shade range
  • Colour pay off is amazing
  • Longest wearing time
  • Does not bleed
  • Hydrates and moisturises the lips thus not arising a need for prior lip balm application
  • Best for evening wear
  • Will make a perfect red pout.

Points not in favour:

  • Pricey
  • Not transfer resistant
  • Feathers away slightly after meals.

Rate: I would rate this 4.8/5.

Abbamart Beau Make Brushes.

Hello pretty readers. Today for the first time I will be reviewing makeup brushes on my blog! Excited? We are too. Makeup brushes make the most important part of the daily makeup routine. They are a hygienic way of applying makeup. Right brushes are as important as right makeup. So one shouldn't at all compromise when it comes to the makeup brushes.

Today I will be reviewing Abbamart Beau Make Brushes.

Angled Toray Contour Brush:

What is the product description?

* Wide, angled powder blush brush made with plush and thick Toray hair

* Angled cut aids in natural shading and blending when contouring cheeks with bronzer and blush, or highlighting with shimmer

*Soft and gentle, non-irritating even on sensitive skin

* Thick natural wooden handle

Total length: 16.5 cm

Hair length: 3.5 cm

Review:

This brush has a thick, yellow coloured handle to it. Which has Beau Make printed on it in black.
First I would like to tell you what exactly is Toray hair. Toray hair is the best quality hair in the synthetic fibre. The hair retains the original shape after use and give correct degree of strength and spring.

I use this brush for two different purposes. Mostly I use it to apply my blusher. And secondly I use it to put highlighter. So basically I use this brush for dual function. Although I'm not a bronzer person but if one wants, they can use it to apply their bronzer powder too using this brush.
The angled-cut of this brush makes it easy to apply the powder blusher. Swirl this brush in your blusher pan and just sweep it diagonally across your cheek bones and you are done! It picks up nice amount of the product and you do not have to struggle with picking up the amount of product you want, which is in turn very good as this way the blusher pan doesn't end up becoming messy. The handle of this brush is firm enough and fits perfectly in my hands and is easy to hold as well as easy to use.

I have washed this brush multiple times by now and the quality of the brush hair is still the same. I haven't noticed any shedding of the brush hair. Over-all it is a great brush especially for the beginners out there!

Sable Lip Brush:

What is the product description?

* Basic style lip brush with short handle made from durable, fine natural sable hair

* Use with lip gloss, lipstick and liner to neatly define and contour lip shape

* Applying lipstick with a brush uses less of your product so it lasts longer

* Natural wood handle

Total length: 9.5 cm

Ferrule size: 0.6 pi

Review:

This is a small brush with a short, yellow coloured wooden handle with Beau Make printed on it in black. The brush hair has a pointed end which is good for the precise application of the lip colour. But I believe it is too small to pick up an average amount of product at one go and so it takes time to apply the lip colour when using this brush. The handle is firm enough although a bit too short but fits in my palms perfectly and not to hard to use.

I have washed this brush once till now and I haven't noticed any shedding of the brush hair nor has the quality of hair changed.

Small Sable Eyeshadow Brush:

What is the product description?

* Eyeshadow brush made from genuine natural sable

* Wide head is perfect for spreading base eye colour

* Blends and shades different tones of eyeshadow

* Use to highlight the eyebrow arch and the inner eye area

Total length: 9.5 cm Ferrule size: 0.6 pi

Review:

This is a small brush with a short, yellow coloured wooden handle with Beau Make printed on it in black. I haven't used this brush much because of its small size. Mostly I use this brush for applying highlighter on my brow bone and the inner corners of my eyes as these areas require only small amount of products and so I use this brush for precise application of the highlighter in these areas. Other than that I have used it a few times for blending of my eye shadows and it does it pretty well. But since the brush is short one might not be comfortable using it for the purpose of blending eye shadows.

I have washed this brush once and did not notice any shedding of the brush hair.

Over-all I think these are a good budget friendly brushes. Abbamart has a huge huge range of brushes for face, body, cheeks, eyes and lips and you have a variety of options to choose from! Link to the Abbamart website is Here.

Price and Availability:

I bought these brushes online from a Facebook page Lush Grooming Bargains, they are one of the official retailers of Abbamart in Pakistan.

  1. Angled Toray Contour Brush: 750Pkr. $6.00
  2. Sable Lip Brush- Short Handle: 240Pkr. $2.70
  3. Small Sable Eyeshadow Brush: 343Pkr. $3.20
Points in favour:
  • Travel friendly.
  • Reasonably priced.
  • Brush hair does not shed after washing.
  • Brush hair quality does not alter after washing.
  • Can be easily washed.
  • Does not cause any kind of irritation to the face.
  • Good for beginners.

Points not in favour:
  • Can only be bought online. Not available at local drug stores.
  • Eyeshadow brush is too small for comfortable application and blending of the eye shadows.

Rating: I would rate these brushes 4/5.
