MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick.

Hello beautiful readers! As you all know that we have been celebrating MAC lipstick week on our blog, in which we reviewed a variety of MAC lipstick finishes and colours through-out this week! And now the exciting week comes to an end today with another review of a striking lipcolour by MAC!

MAC Lipstick to be reviewed today is "Velvet Teddy".

Review:

Velvet Teddy is a Matte finish lipstick. This lipstick comes in a black, hard, plastic container with MAC printed on it in silver. There is a hilarious story behind the purchase of Velvet Teddy, most of you would definitely just sit there and laugh at me. The stimulus behind buying MAC's Velvet Teddy was that I found out that this was Priyanka Chopra's favourite/ to-go lipstick! Hehe. I know that sounds lame but I am being honest here. I did not buy this lipstick because I liked the colour but because it was Priyanka's favourite MAC lipstick. Not that she's my favourite female actor but just randomly.

Velvet Teddy is a deep-tone beige as suggested by MAC. If you look carefully at the swatch of the lipstick, it is brownish pink with hints of peach undertones. Now that might sound very weird but that is the best I can explain about this colour. When I used this lipstick it showed more of a Peachy-brown on my brownish-pink lips. There were no signs of pink to be found. And that is when I realised that this colour is not for me and I should have looked up for this colour on Internet before buying. I feared that Velvet Teddy would lie in my makeup drawer forever, un-used. It is then when my sister tried this lip colour and she fell in love with it. It appeared as nude, brown on her lips. Say, two tones darker than nude on her lips. For the reference my sister is NC 40. The peach undertones of this lipstick literally hid all the dark pigmentation on my sisters lips and neutralised them. This is when we both realised that Velvet Teddy suits NC 40's more.

On my Asian skin tone it showed up more of bright peach colour in bright day light, while indoors it shows up more of a brown and for some odd reasons it didn't suit my over all look. For the reference I am NC 30. Browns are for people with more pigmented skin tones and pinks are for people with less pigmented skin tones when one does not want to stand out of the crowd. Peach comes somewhere in between these two. But peach lip colours have never suited my skin tone!

MAC has one of the finest matte finish lipsticks. If I draw a comparison between Color Studio Pure Matte Collection to MAC's matte finish I think the latter is way better in terms of consistency. This being a matte finish does NOT at all dry out my lips nor does it highlight the dry, cracked areas on my lips which is the worst side of a usual matte lipstick.

In my view it is the perfect nude for falls, winters. The longevity of this lipstick is amazing. It stays put on my lips for a good 4-5 hours if I don't eat or drink in this between. Does not smudge too. The consistency of this lipstick is creamy. Does not bleed out if applied with a lip liner. Colour pay off is pretty good too.

Over-all I think this is a must-have lipstick for NC 40's, shows up as a warm brownish peach and neutralises all the pigmentation on the lips.
