Sun Off Plus Sun Block.

Hello beautiful readers. How have you all been? We're extremely sorry for writing after days as we are busy with hospital and studies.
Today I will be reviewing a sunscreen, Sun Off Plus Sun Block.

Product description?

  1. Oil free sun block.
  2. Sun Protection Factor (Spf) 60.
  3. Maximum protection against UVA/UVB and IR Radiation.
  4. Invisible.
  5. Non-greasy.
  6. Photostable.
  7. Non-comedogenic
  8. Broad-spectrum.

Review:

Sunscreens are the most essential everyday use product. One can skip anything BUT sunscreen, it is so important. It not only protects our skin from dark pigmentations but also from other adverse effects of harmful sun rays like pre-mature ageing of the skin, sun burns, photosensitivity reactions etc. So never skip your sunscreen!

This sunscreen has been my Holy grail sun block since like the past few months. The sun block comes in a 30gm tube. The packaging of the tube is really good. Tube packagings prevent contamination of the product and they are my favourite. In the past I always had trouble finding the right sunscreen for my skin type. Having a combination skin type this has been so far the best for me as it claims to be oil free. And I agree with this claim. It keeps my face oil free for a good four to five hours, but an exception to this is my T-zone which is excessively oily and during these five hours it shines up. But that is okay because none of the other products I have tried can keep my T-zone matte for like this long. The product is not at all greasy and I completely love this quality. Greasy sunscreens make a really bad base for makeup too.

This sun screen does not make my face look fairer or any darker. It is just invisible, that is it does not give any pigmentation. Sunscreens making our face look lighter than what it originally is turns me off. This product does not at all produce a fake grey or white film on my face. Ideal sunscreens should be invisble and this product fullfills this criteria!

The product claims to be Non-comedogenic. I'm sure you all have heard of this term before, right? Before commenting on this I would want to tell you what exactly does this term mean?

Comedo-genic: Comedo is a type of a skin lesion, which is the least severe form of an acne which is due to clogging of the pores. Excess sebum production combines with the dead skin cells and at times bacteria and clogs up pores and the result is a comedo! Genic is genesis that is formation.

So basically when a product is labelled as Non-comedogenic it means that this product is least likely to cause you break-outs and acne! Hope that was clear to you all? I would agree to this sun screen being non-comedogenic as I have not experienced any break outs because of this as yet. So if you are someone with an acne prone skin this is your to-go-for sunscreen in my view.

Now you would all be wondering what does a broad-spectrum sunscreen do or means?
Ultra Violet rays that are harmful to our skin our of two types i.e. UVA and UVB. And both are harmful to us. A broad-spectrum sunscreen is designed to protect our skin from both these types of UVrays.
Also this sunscreen claims to be Photo-stable, meaning its chemical structure is not or nearly not altered by the energy of UV rays.

How to apply?

  • Apply the sunscreen all over your face and neck area at-least half an hour before stepping out in the sun.
  • Do not take out a lot of product at one go. You just need an average amount to cover your entire face.

Pricing and Availability: I bought this product from Kausar medicos, you can try looking for it at other pharmacies too. Worth 300pkr.

Points in Favour:

  • Oil free sunscreen
  • Non comedogenic
  • Photstable
  • Non greasy
  • Broad spectrum
  • Does not produce any white or grey films on the face
  • Packaging is completely travel friendly.
  • Quantity enough to be lasted for a good four to five months.
  • Reasonable price.

Points not in favour:

Honestly I cant think of a single negative point about this!

Rating: I would rate this product 4.8/5

Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer.

Today I will be reviewing a concealer. Yes you heard me right! Concealers are a life saver, arent they? Im sure most of you out there can totally relate to this statement hehe. I will be reviewing Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer in Classic Beige.

This concealer comes in three shades:
  1. Soft Beige
  2. Classic Beige
  3. Ivory.
What does Rimmel say about this concealer?Answer:
  • Conceals signs of fatigue
  • Highlight and illuminate eye area
  • Soft precision brush for the delicate under eye area.
REVIEW:

This concealer comes in a 7ml tube with a brush attached to it for the application of the concealer. I have this concealer in shade Classic Beige, that was the closest match for my skin tone. That is for Asian skin tones, Classic Beige would be the closest while people with wheatish skin tones can go for Ivory and people with pink under tones can go for this concealer in Soft Beige. The shade range is like the narrowest so it is most likely that a lot of you out there might not find a suitable shade for yourself.

Consistency of the concealer is cream like. The quantity of the product is fair enough. You only need a little amount of the concealer if you are some one with mild dark circles. So in my view it will last you long if you don't use a lot of the product everyday. I bought this concealer around four months back and using it since then.

Results:

I am totally in love with this concealer! Despite of a few unfavourable points I totally love this concealer. I have been using this for four months and I haven't still run out of the product.
It perfectly conceals my dark circles and reduces my under eye puffiness. That being said, I have mild dark circles to be honest so I'm not really sure how would this work on people with major dark circles. Since its coverage is build-able so I'm guessing if you have major dark circles this can work for you too provided you will have to use a little more amount than normal. But make sure you don't end up making your eye area look all cakey.

Initially I tried applying it with my fingers but I didn't achieve as flaw-less results as I wanted. Then I switched to a concealer brush but still in vain. It was later on that I started applying this concealer with a Beauty Blending Sponge and I got amazing results. It blends in the product really well. Note, I don't use the brush applicator attached with this concealer to blend my concealer. I just apply the product with that brush.

This concealer stays put on my under eye area for a good 6-7 hours. Doesn't oxidise and change colour most of the times but I have noticed some color change if applied for too long. If you are someone with dry skin, do not skip moisturising your under eye area before applying this concealer or else you ll end up making your eye area look all cakey. I apply it over my sunscreen. And it blends in perfectly. Also it does not look cakey or even crease on my under eye area.

I dont use this product to conceal other flaws on my face any blemishes, redness or acne scars because I don't think it is good at doing that. It doesn't work really well with concealing these flaws and produces a white-grey film over them. So I just use it on my under eye area. I agree with the part that it brightens up and highlights the under eye area making it look as fresh as anything.

Picture a: With the application of the Rimmel Concealer
Picture b: With the application of the Concealer + Pressed Powder
Picture c: Without the application of the Concealer
Picture d: Without the application of the Concealer.

How to apply?

  • You only need two little drops (provided you don't have major pigmented under eye area)
  • The thing about concealers is that we don't apply it like how we apply other creams, foundations etc.
  • If using your finger you have to tap it on the under eye area. Do not move your fingers/brush/blending sponge in a continuous motion because that way the concealer would be absorbed in the skin and we don't want that. We want the concealer to stay on top of our skin so that it can hide the flaws.
  • So start tapping slowly over the entire under eye area.
  • Finish it off by applying your pressed powder over it. This way you are sealing your concealer right there and this way it will last longer!
  • And you re done.
Pricing and Availability:
I bought this product from Scentsation located at The Dolmen City Mall, Karachi. I bought this concealer around four months back and got it worth 650Pkr. But it may be subjected to change in the price of this product now.

Points in favour:
  • Long lasting.
  • Sufficient quantity to last for a good 6 to 7months.
  • No weird fragrance.
  • Perfectly conceals under eye pigmentation.
  • Highlights the under eye area.
  • Packaging is travel friendly.
  • Reasonably priced.
Points not in favour:
  • Does change colour when applied for long.
  • Narrow shade range.
  • Does not conceal blemishes, acne scars or any red pigmentation on other areas of the face well.
Rating: I would rate this product 4.3/5

Eye and Lip-Look For The Fall.

Morning readers. Today this blog post is about another make-up look. Yes you heard me right!
Fall is going to be here in a months time and so we decided to do this Eye & Lip-Look for you guys for the fall. Now most of the times the word "Fall" brings us to our minds colours like browns, bronze, golds, coppers, yellows right? But our makeup look does not have these colours. We believe Fall should be equally colourful as other seasons and so we decided to do this look for you guys.

Before moving on with this post, I'd like to tell you that I did three different colours for the eye but it didn't really show up so I'd be mentioning those three shades in the tutorial below. Also I'd mention once again that I am not a make-up artist and so I'm not at all good at this so please bear with me. I'm sure guys can do a lot better than this.

Things that I used for this look:

For the eyes I used:

  • MUA Eye Primer
  • Loreal Paris, Colour Harmony Tailor-Made Palette
  • MUA, Undress Eyeshadow Palette
  • Avon Super Shock Mascara- Black
  • Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer- Classic Beige
  • Bourjois Double Ended Applicator
  • Luscious Brow Definer Pencil-  For Dark Hair.

For the lips I used:
  • Color Studio Lip Artist Lip Liner in Ooh La La
  • MAC CremeSheen Lipstick- Brave Red.

How to create this look:

  • First I applied my MUA Eye Primer on the entire upper lid.
  • Then using the eye shade in light blue, from the Loreal Color Harmony Palette I applied it over my lid. But did not apply it over the entire lid. I applied it just over the area where we put our liner. Blend it well.
  • Then took another colour from the same palette in light green and applied above light blue and NOT over it. So make sure you dont mix the two colours or else they wouldn't stand as two different colours.
  • Then I used the third colour from the same palette for the crease line of my lid and for that I used a very lighter shade of Lavendar and blended this colour in my crease area only.
  • Then I took shade number 1 from the MUA Undress palette and applied it as a highlighter on my brow bone only. Blend it well.
  • After that, I put my Avon Super Shock mascara in Black on my upper lashes.
  • For my brows I used the Luscious brow definer pencil to define my brows. Make sure you don't over-do your brows or else it'll end up looking fake.
  • Last comes the concealer part. I applied Rimmel Match Perfection concealer on my under eye area.
  • For the lips, I first applied the Color Studio lip pencil in Ooh La La. Then I filled in my lips with MAC lipstick in Brave Red.
  • And that is it!

The Body Shop Wooden Foot File.

Hello readers, I will be reviewing The Body Shop Wooden Foot File today. Foot files are totally essential. For obvious reasons one can not weekly end up at a salon for a good pedicure. But we definitely need to file our feet weekly to keep them looking good and soft. And so I decided to review this Wooden File for you guys today.

What does The Body Shop say about this Wooden Foot file?
Answer:  This double-sided foot file effectively buffs away hard skin on soles and heels.
  • Removes hard skin
  • Double-sided for gentle and firm exfoliation
  • Long lasting.
Review:
  • This foot file is made up of good quality wood, as the name suggests.
  • It is a dual sided foot file.
  • One side is kind of rough while the other side is comparatively smoother.
  • The wood is of good quality as it does not mould or even crack. Does not even get soft or soggy when wet.
  • The bottom of the wooden foot file has a white coloured loop to hang the foot file after usage.
  • Both the sides have different function. The rough side is for very hard, dry skin which is usually present on our heels. While the smoother side is for sensitive skin which needs gentle exfoliation.

  • I use this foot file with a foot scrub and use it once weekly.
  • After I am done using the wooden foot file I rinse it with water, clean it and then hang it back it on the wall.
Results:

I have used many local foot files, pumice stones but this wooden foot file by The Body Shop is a winner for me. It scrubs away the dead, dry skin, callouses on my heels efficiently leaving my heels softer and smoother than before. I use the smoother side of the foot file for gentle exfoliation of the sensitive areas of my feet like between the toes, on the undersurface of the toes, around the ankles and on the upper surface of the foot.

The only down side of this foot file is that I have noticed that one side of the exfoliating pad is coming off with weekly use. So in my view this wooden file is not really long lasting. I have been using it for two months now and in two months I have noticed one side of the exfoliating pad is coming off.

Will definitely re-purchase this foot file again.

Pricing and Availability:
I bought this wooden foot file from The Body Shop outlet located at The Dolmen City Mall, Karachi. Worth 490Pkr.

Rating: I would rate this 4/5.

Beauty Blending Sponge

You all must have heard of the Beauty Blending Sponge, right? Hands-down it is my favourite make up tool! And I will be sharing my thoughts about it with you guys today.

Note: It is not the original beauty blending sponge. But quite an impressive dupe for that. But since I haven't used the original one so I will not talk about the contrast between the two.
The Packaging:
It is a pink coloured, small, tear-drop shaped sponge. It is the size of my palm and hence fits in my palm well. It has two sides, an upper pointed end and a lower flat end.

Review:
I bought this gem, around three months back and started using it since then. Since then it has been my everyday make up tool. I couldn't imagine life with out it now, it is so amazing.

I use this sponge for dual purpose, that is for the application of my concealer as well as the foundation. Using the upper pointed tip I blend my concealer with it. And it works perfectly. Before this sponge, I had so much trouble with blending my concealer as none of the concealer brushes I had worked perfectly. But this little gem blends in my concealer amazingly. I don't see any lines/creases on my under eye area after I blend my concealer with this sponge.

I apply the concealer on my under eye area and and then I blend it with this sponge, using dabbing motion of this sponge. Do not move in this sponge in continuous movement because that will lead to the absorption of your concealer in the skin and we do not want that right? We want the concealer to stay on top of the skin. Hence we move this sponge in dabbing movements.

For the blending in of my foundation or BB Cream I use the lower flat end of this sponge. It gives a flawless look of the foundation to my face. I dont really have to struggle with the blending of the foundation, it does everything so smoothly.

I have washed this sponge multiple times till now and it did not lose it's efficiency. It's still as great as new. Also I have not noticed any tearing of the sponge. One thing I would like to tell you here that even after washing it, the concealer stains on it do not really go away. Looks like they are permanently going to be there. But that doesn't really cause any hindrance in it's performance. I wash this sponge once after every two weeks.

This sponge can be used for any cream and liquid products which includes all the liquid foundations, BB creams, concealers and even cream blushers! Although I have not tried this sponge with the cream blusher but I'm sure it will blend it pretty well too.

Price and Availability: I bought this Sponge online from a Facebook page, Lush Grooming Bargains. Worth 680Pkr.

Points in favour:
  • Blends in the concealer, foundation perfectly.
  • Can be used with all the cream and liquid products.
  • Gives a flawless application with no creases.
  • The sponge does not tear after washing.
  • Cheaper dupe to the original Beauty Blending Sponge.

Points not in Favour:
  • The concealer stains do not really go away from the sponge even after washing.
  • Not available at local drugstores and can only be purchased online.

Rating: I would rate this product 4.75/5

Garnier Skin Naturals Soothing Eye Make-Up Remover.

How many of us actually use an eye make up remover? Not many right? Most of us prefer soap and water to remove our makeup. The thing about soap and water is that it doesnt efficiently remove our makeup in one go. Plus for water proof mascara and water proof eye makeup you literally rub your eyes with soap but in vain. Water proof mascaras, if good quality are toughest to remove. And trust me they don't even go away with water and soap that easily. Bits of mascara are still stuck to your lashes till they literally dry up and go away after a few days. This is where an eye makeup remover comes in action. With just one use it cleans our eyes off makeup, including the water proof makeup. Doesn't this sound relaxing? It does to us though.

Today i will be reviewing Garnier Skin Naturals Soothing Eye Make-Up Remover.

What does Garnier say about this product?

Answer: Enriched with plant extract and pro vitamin B5 its formula with no perfume, no alcohol and no colourants. Perfectly dissolves mascara from the delicate eye contour area. The eyes are perfectly cleansed and your eye contour is left feeling comfortable and fresh.

Review:

The product comes in a light blue coloured, 150ml bottle with a white cap which is easy to use. The cap has a narrow opening through which the product comes out. The narrow opening prevents too much product coming out at one go. The packaging of the bottle is travel friendly.
I bought this product around two months back and started using since then. Before this product I literally had to struggle with taking off my water proof mascara. And it still didn't come off completely and it's bits stayed there on my lashes for few days literally. Thats how water proof makeup is suppose to be so I wouldn't whine about that. After using this eye make up remover my life has been a lot easier. I don't run away from my water proof mascara now. The product claims to be alcohol, perfume and colourants free. Ain't this amazing? No weird smell, no colourants is amazing and protective for skin. The product has water like consistency. The best part about the product being that it is suitable for sensitive eyes too. So no worries if your eyes are allergic to removers, this is definitely going to work for you!

Pictue showing the narrow opening in the cap.

How to use it?

Soak a piece of cotton wool or a tissue paper whatever you have with this eye make up remover. Gently wipe your make up starting from the inner corner of the eye to the outer side. Generally it takes just one cotton wool and not much but if you think that you still have bits of make up or mascara left on, you can repeat it with some more remover.

Results:
When I first used this remover to wipe away my water proof mascara, I was completely shocked! It removed all of my mascara! I just couldn't believe it. It was literally an eye opener for me because previously I literally had to struggle to take my mascara off but with this remover it just got off so easily. Also it completely cleaned my eye off makeup. No trace of makeup was to be found on my eye. It did not at all irritate my skin around the eye area. Nor were my eyes affected by this product in any way. My eyes were perfectly fine and clean.

Pricing and Availability: I bought this product from Farid's located at The Dolmen City Mall, Karachi. Worth 395pkr.

Points in favour:

  1. Suitable for sensitive eyes.
  2. Does not cause irritation or any other adverse affect to the eyes.
  3. The product is perfume, alcohol and colourant free.
  4. Removes eye make up efficiently.
  5. Successful at removing water proof mascara too.
  6. Reasonably priced.
Points not in favour:

Honestly I couldn't think of any!

Rating: I would rate this product 4.5/5

Eye Make-Up Tutorial.

Hello lovelies! First of all, a very very Happy, Meaty Eid Mubarak from Faryum's to you all!:D
How was eid for all of you? It was great for us Mash Allah!

Today this blog post is about a quick Eye Make-Up Tutorial. Often when we are getting ready we have very less time for make-up and specifically Eye Make-up, right? I mean we hardly get time to sit and concenterate on our eye area alone so we just end up putting on the liner and mascara and we're done. This blog post is going to help you create a quick yet easy eye for parties, gatherings, eid barbecues etc.

This is going to be our very first Eye Makeup look on this blog and also my VERY first tutorial on an eye makeup look ever, so hope you guys like it. I know I am not really good at it but this is my first ever tutorial.

Things Used To Create This Eye Look:

Things that I used to create this look are:
  • Make-up Academy Eye Primer
  • Makeup Academy Undressed Eyeshadow Palette
  • Maybelline Colossal Kajal
  • Avon Super Shock Mascara in Jet Black
  • Rimmel Match Perfection  Concealer in Classic Beige
  • Luscious Eyebrow Definer Pencil for Dark hair
  • Bourjois Double Ended Applicator
  • Beau-Make Eye Shadow Brush
  • Beauty Blending Sponge
  • Oriflame Eye Lash Curler

Tutorial:
  • Firstly apply the MUA eye primer on your upper lid. Blend it well so that it covers your entire upper lid.
  • Apply shade number 2 from the MUA Undressed Palette on the inner one third of your lid. Apply it till the middle of your brow (Apply till from where your eye brow arch begins).
  • Using your Maybelline Colossal Kajal  to make a V on the outer corner of your eye.
  • Then apply shade number 11 from the MUA Undressed Palette on the outer half of your lid till the V (which you made earlier).
  • Now you can see two different shades on your eye with a clear boundary between them and we do not want this boundary right? So start blending from innner to the outer side of the lid (i.e. from shade number 2 to shade number 11)) to give a smoky effect.
  • Make sure both the colours are completely blended by now and there is no prominent demarcation between them.
  • Apply maybelline Colossal Kajal on the upper lash line as an eye liner. Apply it thick or thin however you want.
  • Then Using Oriflame's Eye lash curler, curl your upper eye lashes.
  • Apply Avon Super Shock mascara on the upper eye lashes.

  • Now apply Rimmel Match Perfection concealer on your under eye area and seal it with your pressed powder.
  • Apply Maybelline Colossal Kajal on your lower water line. Again it's up to you if you want to apply it thick or thin.
  • Then sweep shade number 1 (from the MUA Undressed Palette) under your brow bone to highlight the entire eye. Also apply some of it on the inner corner of your eye.
  • Now for the brows, apply Luscious Eyebrow definer Pencil and blend it well  using the spoolie brush which is present on the other end of the pencil. (In the picture above, my eyebrows are not threaded so excuse me for that).
  • And you're ready to go!

Oriflame's Pure Nature Organic Acai and Pomegranate Antioxidant Night Cream.

Before seven months I was someone who was clueless about night creams and their significance. It is only when I came across this amazing product I decided to give it a try.

I will be reviewing Oriflame's Pure Nature Organic Acai and Pomegranate Antioxidant Night Cream.

What does Oriflame say about this Night cream?
Answer: Rich textured night cream containing organic extracts of Acai-berry and pomegranate that moisturises your skin while it rests.

Review:

About the Packaging:
  • Comes in a 75ml, violet coloured jar.
  • When you open the jar you see a silver coloured foil seal over the cream. So make sure your jar is foil sealed before you start using it.
  • The thing about jar packagings is that there are very high chances of contaminating the product since one has to insert the fingers in the jar all the time to take out the product. I like tube or bottle packagings better.
  • The jar contains light pink coloured cream.
About the product:

The thing which caught my attention was the word Antioxidants. A night cream with antioxidant properties sounds really cool, no? Okay for readers who do not know much about antioxidants; these are basically substances which prevent the free-radical-mediated-cell-injury.
The next question which comes to the minds of many is that how do these antioxidants help human skin? Answer to this is that antioxidants can help fight ageing skin cells. It helps keep the skin looking young and wrinkle-free.

Being a medical student most of my nights go sleepless so there was no point of using a night cream before, hehe. But it is then I started realising how important it is for me. Night creams help moisturise our skin the entire time we are sleeping. And one should never and like never skip moisturising their skin. And this also applies for people with combination and oily skin. And not just people with dry skin. People often have concepts like why do we need more moisturising when we already have an oily skin. The answer to this is, that people with oily skin use products which literally strip off the natural oil from their skin. As a result of which their skin remains vulnerable and this can lead to more break outs! Whenever we use a toner or a clay mask to rip off the oil from our skin this should always be followed by moisturising your skin so that you don't end up with excessive oil on your face and thus more break outs.

The cream smells really nice. It has this aroma of berries mixed with aroma of pomegranate. It is not runny in consistency. Has a typical cream like consistency.

How to use?

Clean your face with water. Dry it with a towel. Apply this cream on your face and neck area. Only a small amount is needed. Do not scoop out a lot of quantity at one go as it will make your skin very greasy. You just need a little amount for your face and little for your neck. Now apply the cream by moving your fingers in circular motion all over your face and neck area.
